Community Activities
Methods to analyse single cells are rapidly developing and require large investments in the experimental and data analysis infrastructure to efficiently generate data sets with complementary readouts in a multi-omics approach. The Single Cell Omics Network at the DKFZ (SCO@dkfz) brings together researchers at the DKFZ and supports community activities in Heidelberg. SCO@dkfz actively promotes interactions and collaborations between the DKFZ, the University of Heidelberg and the EMBL via the Single Cell Center Heidelberg and HMLS. Within the DKFZ the SCO@dkfz network supports activities in the following areas:
- Application and development of experimental Single Cell Omics methods for cancer research available via the Single Cell Open Lab (link to scOpen Lab).
- Bioinformatical data analysis via a combination of bioinformatic (sub)groups and generally accessible analysis workflows (link to Analysis of Single Cell Data).
- Intramural and external training (wet lab as well as data analysis) to advance the SCO expertise at the DKFZ.
- Organization of SCO meetings and workshops at the DKFZ and via the Single Cell Center Heidelberg
- DKFZ participation in national and international SCO consortium projects
Consortium projects
DKFZ groups conduct a number of single cell sequencing projects of cancer cells within different consortia and programs that include those listed below.
- CZI project "START - Standardization of Single-Cell RNA-seq Protocols for Tumors" funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) as part of the program "Pilot Projects for a Human Cell Atlas" of the Human Cell Atlas initiative (HCA). It involves an international collaboration for standardization and best practice recommendations for single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-sequencing of normal and cancer cells in clinical tumor samples.
- DFG Research Group FOR 2674 "Aging-related epigenetic remodeling in acute myeloid leukemia", where single cell sequencing experiments and data analysis for the research group are conducted at the DKFZ.
- Single cell sequencing projects of different tumor entities within the HIPO2 program of the Heidelberg Center for Personalized Oncology at the DKFZ.
- Analysis of multiple myeloma in the context of the GMMG-HD7 study.
