Research School Application Procedure

The exact application process for a PhD position at the Research School depends upon whether you wish your home institute to be the DKFZ or the Weizmann Institute.

DKFZ

For PhD candidates of the Research School wishing to have the German Cancer Research Center as their home institute, two applications routes are possible.

(1) Candidates can apply through the Helmholtz International Graduate School for Cancer Research.  For this application route, candidates first submit a general application and shortlisted candidates are provided with a list of available PhD projects, in which the German-Israeli Helmholtz Research School projects will be included.  More information about this application process can be found here.

The next deadline for applications for DKFZ-based projects is 31st May 2018.

(2) Candidates can submit an application directly for the project they are interested in via the DKFZ jobs application portal.

Currently there are no open PhD projects.

Please note that additional joint DKFZ-Weizmann Institute PhD projects are often availalbe ONLY through the Graduate School Selections, so we advise candidates who are more flexible in their choice of topic for their PhD project to apply through the Graduate School selections (route 1 above) in order to have the option to apply for these additional projects.

The admission requirements for candidates wishing to have the DKFZ as their home institute are the same as for the Helmholtz International Research School for Cancer Research. These can be found here.

Weizmann Institute

For PhD candidates of the Research School wishing to have the Weizmann Institute as their home institute, they should apply according to the procedures of the Feinberg Graduate School. More information about this application process can be found here.
