Our Research

At the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), scientists are doing research in over 100 divisions, research groups and clinical cooperation units. These are assigned to five Research Programs which undergo a regular international assessment process.

A laboratory technician in a white coat and blue gloves holds a glass vial filled with liquid, labeled "ACN/20% H2O." In the foreground, another vial sits on a lab device connected by thin tubes. The background is blurred, emphasizing the technician and the vials.
Two scientists in white lab coats are engaged in a discussion in a laboratory, examining a notebook. The male scientist, with curly hair, points towards the notebook held by the female scientist, who wears gloves and looks attentively. Background shelves are filled with laboratory supplies.

Research units at the DKFZ

The DKFZ offers a comprehensive overview of all divisions, research groups and clinical cooperation units. Discover the diversity of research at the DKFZ by searching for research units from A to Z or for specific subject areas.

They are both engaged in discussion, emphasizing teamwork in a scientific environment. The background features laboratory equipment and large windows.

Core Facilities

Scientists at the DKFZ and its partner sites have access to a broad portfolio of research infrastructures. This includes core facilities as well as data management and IT services. The core facilities provide access to state-of-the-art technology, advise users and deal with method development. Data management and IT services cover the need for IT infrastructures and offer software solutions for the organization and proper handling with it.

Translational research

The DKFZ is one of the world's leading cancer research centers. It closely combines basic research with clinical application in order to bring findings to patient care more quickly. To this end, it uses specialized infrastructures and interdisciplinary collaborations. At translational sites in Germany, the DKFZ works together with university hospitals and research partners to optimize processes and make research results quickly usable.
