Single Cell Omics @ DKFZ
A fundamental problem in cancer research is it to resolve the clinically highly relevant differences between individual tumor cells, which determine cellular response to drug treatment and the relapse of the tumor. To address this problem, the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) is establishing a large-scale effort for the advancement and (pre)clinical application of single cell "omics" (SCO) methods in cancer research. Our current focus is on single cell sequencing technologies (genome, epigenome and transcriptome) and extension to proteomics and metabolomics and the integration of SCO with imaging. Multiple DKFZ research groups have joint forces to advance these research areas, which provides a unique interdisciplinary and collaborative environment for this area of biomedical research.
