Implementation of a DKFZ internal electronic study register

Since 1999 all clinical studies and clinical research with human materials or data conducted by DKFZ investigators have to be registered at DKFZ. All scientists have to fill in a paper form. To improve the usability and to provide an opportunity to analyze the data, the project group Clinical Activities (CA) start to develop a database together with the “Core Facility” Information Technology at DKFZ. The database is designed to be a register of all clinical activities at DKFZ with information on the content, commencement and termination of the clinical activities. The users i.e. DKFZ Management Board, the Committee of Clinical Activities at DKFZ, the CA or physicians requires a database of clinical activities for purposes including

- Provision of an overview of all clinical activities at DKFZ
- Identification of ongoing, completed or terminated clinical trials
- Generation of clinical activity statistics
- Provision of information on internal audits that have been undertaken by the CA (in future)
