Molecular Therapy of Virus-Associated Cancers

Research Goals

It is the overall goal of our research to translate the accumulating knowledge about the molecular basis of cancer into the development of novel therapies. This includes the discovery and validation of novel therapeutic targets and the generation of specific molecular inhibitors (“targeted therapy”). Our experimental approaches include the peptide aptamer system and the siRNA (RNA interference) technology.
Thematically, we concentrate on virus-associated cancers and on the regulation of apoptosis in tumor cells. Ongoing projects deal with basic and - in close cooperation with clinical partners - translational aspects of these topics.
