Jubilee Symposium
The DKFZ Scanditronix MC32NI Cyclotron - 25 Years of Operation
30th June and 1st July 2016
The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) - Heidelberg gladly celebrates 25 years of successful operation of its second MC32NI cyclotron from the company Scanditronix, Uppsala (Sweden), which was installed in 1991. The machine is the successor of the first machine (AEG) (protons and 4He: 22 MeV; deuterons 11 MeV; 3He: 28MeV) which was uninstalled in 1990 after 18 years of operation due to severe symptoms of old age and the prospects of new scientific concepts requesting higher energies and currents as well as more reliability. This cyclotron model MC32NI (proton 32 MeV, deuterons 16 MeV) became the first compact cyclotron for the acceleration of negative ions of hydrogen and deuterium.
On this auspicious day DKFZ would like to cordially invite you to our beautiful city of Heidelberg to join this symposium and make it more memorable with your kind presence.
