DNA repair mechanisms and cancer


Technical Assistant (BTA) / Biology Laboratory Assistant



Ihre Aufgaben:

Our group "DNA repair Mechanisms and Cancer" is interested in pathways required to preserve the stability of the genome. For our studies we use Saccharomyces cerevisiae as model organism, as well as mamalian cell lines. We are currently looking for a technical assistant interested in being part of the lab research projects, as well as being responsible for laboratory organizational/management tasks.

The technician will perform the following techniques:
• General lab duties (preparation of solutions, stocks, culture medias, ordering)
• Cell biology techniques (cell culture mammalian cell lines (S1), transfections, CRISPR-Cas9, shRNA, FACS)
• Molecular biology techniques (DNA isolation, cloning, sequencing, PCR, genotyping, western-blotting, mutagenesis, immunoprecipitations)
• Microbiological manipulation techniques (yeast and bacteria culture)
• Generation of genetically modified yeast strains, genetic screens (mutation rate and chromosomal rearrangement analysis)

Ihr Profil:

• Technical assistant (BTA), biology laboratory assistant
• Good theoretical and practical knowledge of basic cellular and molecular biology techniques
• Familiar with basic computer programs (Microsoft Office)
• Team spirit and flexibility. Good german and English communication skills (written and spoken)
• And importantly: a careful and responsible worker with excellent organizational skills and willingness to learn new techniques
