Niklas holds a Bachelor's (2018) and Master's (2020) degree in physics from the Heidelberg University. Afterwards, he continued pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science at the Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), focusing on 2D to 3D photoacoustic image registration for medical applications developing the so-called Tattoo tomography approach (patent pending).

Outside the research realm, Niklas enjoys playing touch rugby, cooking, and has been involved with the German Red Cross for over 10 years.
