HIRO and OncoRay Lecture Series "Radiation Research in Oncology"

Radiation research and radiooncology are highly interdisciplinary fields, involving close cooperation between experts in medicine, biology, physics, engineering and computer science. These disciplines are brought together within the National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology (NCRO).

A laptop displays the message, "Welcome to our lecture series!" in blue text. The laptop is placed on a desk beside a potted cactus and some office supplies, creating a welcoming environment for learning.

Introduction

A central aim is to train junior scientists in interdisciplinary research, by equipping them with essential prerequisites for productive scientific cooperation: active communication between researchers and a solid understanding of the research field. The lecture series "Radiation Research in Oncology" aims to address these goals with 18 talks over the course of 2 years (2x9 lectures). They are given by lecturers from Heidelberg or Dresden, and can also be attended at the partner site via a live video stream. The lectures are aimed at a general audience with the goal of providing an overview of each of a wide range of topics relevant to radiooncological research, including in the fields of medicine, biology, chemistry, physics and technology.

Talks in this lecture series are open to anyone who is interested, but are particularly aimed at PhD students at DKFZ. However: the lecture series is not open to the public! Only members of HIRO, OncoRay or other DKTK institutes can participate.

Further information

Until further notice, the lecture series will take place online only. All DKFZ employees will be invited by e-mail with the required login credentails.

Please note: PhD students at DKFZ please additionally register via the Training Portal of DKFZ to get your credit points! To get 0,5 credit points per part (Oct. - Jun.), you need to attend at least 6 out of 9 lectures. This lecture does not replace the Progress in Cancer Research (PiCR) lecture series!

Interested colleagues from other partner institutes of HIRO or DKTK, please contact Anna Moshanina (a.moshanina(at)dkfz-heidelberg.de) or Marcel Schäfer via e-mail (marcel.schaefer(at)dkfz-heidelberg.de) to get all relevant information. Please use your business e-mail address to register for the lecture series.
