Division "Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention"
I am a physician working at the intersection of oncology, digital health and implementation research. My work examines how digital tools and health system readiness shape access to cancer prevention and care, with a particular focus on Latin America and Germany. At DKFZ, I lead a mixed-methods evaluation of a tele-hepatology program in Colombia and Paraguay. I am also co-PI of FORECAST-Policy, which assesses the readiness of the German health system for risk-adapted prostate cancer screening. A further interest is the safe and responsible use of AI in medicine, including the evaluation of large language model chatbots as clinical decision support.
Before joining DKFZ, I worked in oncology care in Colombia and then in the Sections of Hepatology and Clinical Bioinformatics at the Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University. There I founded the Digital Hepatology Hub, a Germany-Colombia digital health program, and built the LAHEBCAN genomic database for my Dr. med. thesis.
