Maybe this will lead to more than just a fair contact!
This year, the German Cancer Research Center was once again represented at the CareerStation at Technischer Hochschule Mannheim. We’re glad you stopped by. We know how many new impressions you take away from a career fair. That’s why we’ve compiled more information here, and we’d love to stay in touch with you.
“It was great meeting you at the TH Mannheim CareerStation 2026!”

What are you looking for right now?
Internships and working student positions are particularly valuable during your studies. Whether you want to gain practical experience, boost your resume, or earn some extra money while you study.
At the DKFZ, you can get a glimpse into a wide variety of fields even while you’re still in the middle of your studies. It’s not just about observing. You’ll work directly on projects, contribute your own ideas, and gain experience that will truly help you later in your studies and career.
You may have already noticed in our job postings that internships aren’t always advertised there. If you’re interested in an internship, feel free to take a look at our organizational chart and see which departments might match your interests. Then you can contact the respective department directly.
And if you’re not quite sure yet which area suits you best: No problem. Just get in touch with us—we’d be happy to help!
A thesis is often more than just the final step in your degree program. It offers the opportunity to delve deeper into a topic, gain practical experience, and get your first taste of academic research or real-world projects.
Not all thesis topics are always publicly advertised. That’s why it’s worth taking a look at our organizational chart or the websites of individual departments.
Do you already have a topic in mind or are you interested in a specific field? If so, feel free to contact the relevant department directly.
Are you looking to start your career right after graduation and seeking an environment where you can further your professional development while working on meaningful projects?
Whether your interests lie in technology, science, or administration, you’ll find the perfect fit with us.

Whether it’s a master’s program, a Ph.D., or a postdoc—at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), there are many opportunities to actively shape research.
Through the Cancer Research Academy, the DKFZ brings together various programs for early-career researchers in an international and interdisciplinary setting.
These include, among others:
the Master’s specialization in Cancer Biology,
the international PhD program,
and the international postdoc program.
The programs combine cutting-edge cancer research with topics such as AI, bioinformatics, data science, imaging, and biotechnology.

Who are we?
The German Cancer Research Center stands for research that truly makes a difference: Here, people from a wide variety of disciplines work together to better understand cancer, detect it earlier, and treat it more effectively. Whether in research, infrastructure and technology, or administration—every contribution is an important piece of the puzzle on our shared journey toward a life without cancer! That is what makes our daily work so meaningful and exciting.
What makes the DKFZ special is the combination of scientific excellence and a clear social mission: research that doesn’t end in the lab, but creates hope—for patients, their families, and future generations.
Internationally connected, innovative, and at the same time people-oriented, the DKFZ offers an environment where ideas can flourish and where work makes a tangible difference.
