EU-SOLACE : Strengthening the Screening of Lung Cancer in Europe

SOLACE aims to develop, test, and disseminate tools to overcome identified bottlenecks and target health inequalities in European countries. It will provide a toolbox for individualized approaches to lung cancer screening at the national or regional level.

Objectives

A logo for the SOLACE project features a magnifying glass highlighting a stylized lung illustration. The design includes a green ribbon representing lung cancer awareness, surrounded by a circle of stars, symbolizing European collaboration in lung cancer prevention efforts.

- To facilitate and support the implementation of structured low-dose CT lung cancer screening programs in Europe.

- To improve the quality of lung cancer screening across Europe.

- To increase the accessibility, benefit-to-harm ratio, and cost-effectiveness of lung cancer screening programs.

- To unite all relevant stakeholders for the first time to sustainably plan and implement lung cancer screening (LCS) programs in the Member States.

The European Lung Cancer Screening Alliance (ELCSA) will be established to ensure the sustainability of the efforts carried out within the SOLACE project.

Our tasks

A map of Europe highlighting levels of access to lung cancer screening data by SOLACE. Countries are colored in various shades indicating different statuses: dark green for EU status data, light green for other data, and orange for an implementation plan project in Romania.

... to demonstrate the feasibility of better engaging hard-to-reach populations in lung cancer screening programmes:

-  Socially disadvantaged populations (Mannheim),

-  Ethnic minorities
