DKFZ-ZMBH Alliance

The DKFZ-ZMBH Alliance is a cooperation established in 2007 between the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) of Heidelberg University and the Research Topic "Cell and Tumor Biology" of the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ).

It is designed as a lighthouse partnership between a university and a non-university research institution. Research within the alliance focuses on understanding molecular processes and cellular functions at increasing complexity levels, contributing to our understanding of biological systems under normal and pathogenic conditions such as cancer. The alliance currently consists of 33 research groups with more than 400 researchers from the ZMBH and DKFZ, who work in a unique interdisciplinary research environment at the intersection between molecular, cell and tumor biology. Joint and interdisciplinary research programs, executive committees and regular meetings as well as symposia, and the joint use of the scientific infrastructure allow the alliance members to better use resources and take optimum advantage of diverse technologies.
