Heiko studied Chemistry at the University of Konstanz, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. During his Master's program, he studied abroad at the University of Toronto, where he worked on iron-based hydrogenation catalysts in the group of Robert H. Morris. For his Ph.D. in the group of Prof. Tanja Gaich, he developed a unified strategy for the total synthesis of natural and non-natural Sarpagine and Ajmaline alkaloids. In 2021, he joined the Cancer Drug Development Group at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg as a postdoctoral researcher, where he is working on covalent inhibitors for the serine protease KLK6 and on novel reagents for disulfide conjugation for potential ADC synthesis.”
