DKFZ Career Service aims to support all early career researchers at the DKFZ in making informed decisions about their professional future.

How do we support researchers?

In confidential 1-to-1 career guidance sessions and via a plethora of different training and event formats, we provide our Postdocs, Doctoral Researchers and Master Students with:

  • Information, job descriptions, and understanding of career orientation and application
  • Stepwise and structured guidance in identifying careers that suit them and helps landing the job
  • Tools to check what they want and need and how to align this with the job market
  • Career network of Alumni who are open to answer specific questions and provide insights into their career to inspire
  • Opportunities to find themself a great mentor

Dr. Barbara Janssens, Head of Career Service & Alumni Relations

Barbara is Careers Advisor and Manager since 2011. She is from Belgium and holds a PhD in molecular and cell biology from Ghent University. After a postdoc in Paris she worked for five years as an Editor at Wiley-Blackwell.

Marion Guerth, Deputy Head of Career Service & Alumni Relations

Marion is Project Coordinator since 2013 and Careers Advisor since 2016. She studied Biology in Darmstadt and Heidelberg and was working at the institute of pathology in Heidelberg and as a freelancer before.

Sally Böhm, Alumni Relations Manager

Sally is Career Tracking and Alumni Relations Manager at DKFZ since 2023. She is from England and has a background in German and Italian Studies. Before joining DKFZ she was working as an Event Manager at Heidelberg University and The Economist and was responsible for organizing courses and conferences at EMBL for nine years.

Panna Marsai, Career Service & Alumni Relations Officer

Panna is Career Service & Alumni Relations Officer at DKFZ since 2024. She is from Hungary and has a background in International Relations and German Studies. Before DKFZ she was working at the European Parliament's Directorate for Communications and at EMBL, where she was responsible for fostering global scientific partnerships & relationships with key R&D stakeholders.
