Division of Preventive Oncology

Dr. Petra Schrotz-King (in ch.)

Dr. Petra Schrotz-King, previously head of the Colorectal Cancer Prevention Working Group, has been acting head of the Preventive Oncology Division since July 15, 2023. Under her leadership, the research program in the field of secondary prevention with a focus on innovative methods of early cancer detection and cancer prevention is currently being continued: the GEKKO study launched in 1-2016 as part of the NCT 3.0 program, the DARIO study (start 09/2016, study end 06/2020) and the LEO study recruiting since 12-2020, the latter with participants in the age group 30-49 as part of the NCT "Proof of Concept Trial" program.
The GEKKO study collaborates with numerous clinics and practices in the area, the LEO study is conducted in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Endoscopy Center (IEZ) at the Medical Clinic of Heidelberg University Hospital.
Another focus of the division is risk-adapted prevention, a working group headed by Prof. Mahdi Fallah.
