Artificial Gene Regulation For Oncolytic Viruses
A successful application of recombinant viruses for gene- respectively virotherapy strongly depends on the selectivity of therapeutic transgene expression or viral replication within target cells. Previously, studies were mostly focused on cell type specific or artificial promoters. However, varying stringency of promoters was observed in some experimental setups due to interference with cellular or viral proteins.
In this context, the goal of my project is to explore alternative ways for artificial RNA-based gene regulation functioning independently from cellular or viral proteins which consequently would allow tight control of gene therapy or viral oncolysis.
