Summer School 2018 "Novel Methods in Image Guided Radiotherapy"

Introduction and Program

Our second summer school 2018 on "Novel Methods in Image Guided Radiotherapy" will take place in Heidelberg at the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg (DKFZ) from September 11th - 14th 2018 (teaching language is English). We are very glad to offer an interesting four day program with national and international experts in the field of IGRT for young scientists at Bacherlor's, Master's or PhD levels.

Colleagues from Dresden (OncoRay), Tübingen and Munich contribute to our summer school as well as experts from the Netherlands (Utrecht), Switzerland (Zuerich) and Italy (Trient). Together with our experts from Heidelberg from the German Cancer Research Center and the Heidelberg University Hospital the summer school provides an in depth overview of the IGRT field and its novel methods. As well as keynotes, specialized lectures and round table discussions, we offer guided tours to the Cyberknife and the MR Linac at the University Hospital Heidelberg to present an engaging and comprehensive learning environment in order to deepen your knowledge in the field. During our science slam on Tuesday you as participant can present your current scientific project to the group and have the opportunity to win a price (kindly supported by PTW)! If you would like to take part in the science slam, please tick the option in the application form (see below) and attach a short abstract of your work to your application.

The science slam, several discussion sessions during the days as well as our get together and dinner offer ample opportunities to network with peers and experts.

Our final program is available here (as of September 06th 2018).

The Summer School has been accredited by the "DEGRO Akademie" as well as by the DGMP (based on its "Weiterbildungsordnung WBO2015": 28 points as "Weiterbildung" in the area "N6 Strahlentherapie" and 28 points as "Fortbildung" ("Kategorie 1.1)).

We are very glad to be part of the Inauguration Celebration of the new MRIdian® Linac System at the Heidelberg University Hospital Radiation Oncology Department on September 12th 2018 (https://www.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de/mr-linac). Once you are accepted at our summer school you are also asked to register for the Inauguration Celebration at its website.

The flyer of the Inauguration Celebration is available here (download flyer).

We are very much looking forward to welcome you in Heidelberg in September 2018!
