Dr. Diego Hernandez has extensive experience in formulating strategies and recommendations based on quantitative methods, in particular for panel data. His main research areas include the estimation of lung cancer treatment costs from a payers' perspective, the socioeconomic impact of cancer on patients and families and the comparison of Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) outcomes across national institutions.

Before joining the DKFZ, Diego worked as a consultant for the market research company Euromonitor and as a research assistant to the Chair of International Politics and Development Policy of Heidelberg University, where he received his doctorate in economics. His professional experience also included consulting work for the government of Indonesia, measuring the effectiveness of a national money transfer program in terms of health and education outcomes.
