 g: From Randomized Trials to Real-World Implementation"
DESCRIPTION:Prostate cancer screening remains a complex balance between red
 ucing mortality and minimizing overdiagnosis and overtreatment. The Göteb
 org-1 and Göteborg-2 studies have provided important insights into how sc
 reening strategies can be optimized to address this challenge. This presen
 tation will summarize long-term outcomes from the Göteborg-1 trial\, incl
 uding its impact on prostate cancer mortality and overdiagnosis. The ongoi
 ng Göteborg-2 study focuses on developing screening strategies that reduc
 e overdiagnosis while maintaining safety and efficiency. I will present re
 sults from the introduction of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) into the s
 creening pathway and discuss the development of risk-adapted algorithms in
 tegrating biomarkers\, MRI\, and structured screening pathways to improve 
 diagnostic precision and avoid unnecessary interventions. I will also disc
 uss potential harms of screening\, including psychological impact\, patien
 t-reported experiences\, and complications. Finally\, I will describe how 
 these findings have been translated into real-world practice through the i
 mplementation of organized prostate cancer testing in Sweden\, highlightin
 g key challenges in balancing benefits and harms at scale.
