DESCRIPTION:Tight regulation of the spatial and temporal organization of ch
 romatin topology is essential for normal development and a driver of cance
 r when dysregulated. Epigenetic modifications\, including histone modifica
 tions\, DNA methylation and nucleosome positioning\, are essential in orch
 estrating the temporal regulation of gene expression mediated by the 3-dim
 ensional chromatin conformation. In cancer\, single nucleotide mutations a
 nd large structural variations affect epigenetic regulation\, leading to c
 hanges in gene expression networks and altered signaling pathways that dri
 ve or promote tumorigenesis. In recent decades\, (epi)genetic alterations 
 involving cis-regulatory elements have been recognized as major players in
  tumorigenesis. This symposium will provide an up-to-date overview of the 
 importance of chromatin topology and regulatory element alterations in can
 cer and discuss how this information can be relevant for cancer therapy.
