The Protein Analysis Facility provides full-services in protein identification by mass spectometry and assists researchers to identify and characterize proteins and find differential protein expression. The core facility serves the research community by providing a resource for training, education, and consultation in protein identification and modern proteomic techniques.
We offer:
- Protein Identification
Identification of proteins in 1 and 2-D gels,
picking and tryptic digestion of your gel spots,
identification of separated proteins in solution.
- Protein Characterization
Mw determination of peptides, proteins or nucleotides,
characterization of posttranslational modifications, e.g. protein acetylation.
- Protein Quantitation
Differential isotope labeling, SILAC, ICPL and AQUA.
- 2D-gel electrophoresis
Learning 2D PAGE in our facility for 'do it yourself,
including colloidal Coomassie, silver or fluorescence staining.
Please contact Dr. Tore Kempf (-4548) for sample delivery and for 2D gel inquieries, Stefan Rahn and Sabine Fiedler (-4560) for other services. You may download the request form for in-house MS service, and respective protocols for colloidal coomassie staining and non-destructive silver staining of gels.
Since the capacity of the Protein Analysis Facility is limited you can also choose a commercial provider as an alternative to the in-house analytical service. Click here for more information.
