Monoclonal Antibody Facility (MAF)

As a response to investigator/cooperation partner feedback, the MAF offers a rapid immunization protocol allowing cell fusion at day 8 and the generation of mouse monoclonal cell lines in 4 to 5 weeks or, also available by request, cell fusion at day 15 and generation of rat monoclonal cell lines in 6 to 8 weeks. The protocol has been used with great success for over 6 years. A more traditional protocol, requiring approximately 12 to 20 weeks for immunization, is also available depending on the specific source of antigen or application of the antibody to be generated. The MAF team can help investigators decide which method best fits the project requirements, examples for applications can be provided. The success of the project depends heavily on frequent communication with the MAF staff throughout the project.

Resource Summary

The MAF provides a monoclonal antibody production service to research projects. Protein/peptides provided by the individual investigators/cooperation partners will are used to generate mouse and rat monoclonal antibodies The facility provides the production of monoclonal antibodies, the purification of antibodies and the cryopreservation of hybridoma cells.
