Bifulfite Reaction
- Bisulfite conversion of DNA. CpG dinucleotides (red) can be affected by methylation changes. Individual Cytosins (blue) are not targets for methyltransferases. The chemical bisulfite reaction converts all un-methylated Cytosons into Uracils, whereas methylated Cytosins are protected, and therefore not converted.
