Lena studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Brighton (UK).
During her studies she first investigated the effects of serum glycoproteins on airway epithelial wound repair and then, working towards her Master's degree, focussed on establishing and validating a highly differentiated cell culture model for airway epithelium.
She joined the Fragilome group as a PhD student in August 2008 and is now investigating genetic instability within chromosome fragile sites in tumour cells.
