Ihre Aufgaben:

The position is available at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine at the Heidelberg University.

We are looking for an outstanding personality, representing the field in research and teaching. The professorship is part of the research program Imaging and Radiation Oncology. Main focus of the position are image-based diagnostic procedures, including the development and translation of innovative image computing methods based on current imaging techniques.

Close cooperation with other departments within the research program Imaging and Radiooncology at the DKFZ and the establishment and maintenance of clinical cooperation with the University Hospital Heidelberg and the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) are strongly encouraged. The professorship aims to further develop the interdisciplinary cooperation among the partners of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK). Experience in working within larger research consortia as well as in developing software infrastructure for the integration of research results into the clinical workflow is highly relevant. The successful candidate should have a high-profile oeuvre in the following areas: Innovative oncologic imaging techniques, modeling of the anatomy and of tissue structure and function, machine learning, computer-aided cancer diagnosis and group studies.

The candidate should bring a strong willingness to contribute to existing research networks or to establish new collaborations on a national and international level.

Further qualifications should include an excellent publication record and international research experience. Relevant experience in acquiring and carrying out third-party-funded projects and supervising scientific work in the field of image processing are also expected. Documented evidence of teaching ability and independent teaching experience are required.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree, as well as a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications. Further conditions of employment are set down in §§ 47 and 48, section 2, of the Baden-Württemberg federal-state law on higher education (Landeshochschulgesetz).
