Climate

Germany lies in the cooler part of the temperature zone, occupying an intermediate position between the oceanic climate of the west and the continental climate of the east. The climatic difference between the north and south is moderated by the greater elevation of the southern regions. Westerly winds bring in sufficient moisture from the ocean, and precipitation falls all year round. The highest temperatures occur in July, the lowest in January.
