What are nodes?

The main issue of iness@dkfz is to connect scientists within the DKFZ.
We have set up a platform based on Microsoft sharepoint which allows

• the identification of scientists with similar interests
• online discussions
• sharing of documents
• ....

The whole system is organized in nodes - like nodes in a complex network. These nodes represent all activities (discussions, documents, organizing content and meeting dates) under a certain topic. You may just look through information and documents, take part in it, or get informed by email, if something new is posted. Importantly, you select, in which nodes you want to take part.

Presently, the following nodes have been implemented:

• Information Flow
• Scientific Network
• Career Development
• Funding
• Core Facilities
• Teaching

Organization of Nodes

However, the network is dynamic, thus this list can enlarge or shrink. The implementation of new nodes is currently managed by iness-organizers.

Each node is managed by 1 to 3 responsible persons (node moderators).

Please note that the whole iness@dkfz platform is only accessible for senior scientists from the dkfz who are members of iness@dkfz.
