Born 1971. Studied biology in Heidelberg. 1997-2000: Graduate student with W. Dröge, German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg. 2000: PhD at the University of Heidelberg (summa cum laude). 2000-2004: Postdoc and subgroup leader with H. Will, Heinrich-Pette-Institut for Experimental Virology and Immunology, Hamburg (Germany). 2004-2005: Group leader at the German Center for Research on Aging (DZFA), Heidelberg. Junior group leader at DKFZ since 2006. Awards include DFG fellowship (2002-2004, German Research Foundation), Werner-Otto award (2002, Werner Otto Foundation, Hamburg) and Georg-Ernst-Konjetzny award (2004, Cancer Research Foundation, Hamburg). Married, two children.
