The Immune Monitoring Platform in the Helmholtz Alliance Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy needs special tools and techniques in order to evaluate its impact on the immune response and its clinical efficiency and to understand the reasons for the response variation among patients. This aim is pursued within the Alliance by an expert platform for immune monitoring with members from all sites of the Alliance.
The central aim is the development, establishment and standardization of different state-of-the-art methods for the analysis of immune responses of patients in clinical studies of immunotherapy of cancer. These methods are also harmonized in exchange with international consortia.
It is possible to improve the knowledge of molecular and cellular regulation of the human immune system by the continued development of monitoring methods. In this context, immune monitoring is an instrument for gaining new information about the immune system in humans. Therefore, the platform is a cornerstone in the development of new immunotherapy approaches.
